Email Scam Alert
It has come to our attention that there is a scam email circulating that has the potential for hackers to gain personal information from your computer. The e-mail appears to come from the IRS and is allegedly in regards to a quarterly tax payment being rejected by the bank.
Sample text from one of the emails reads as follows: "Your Tax payment (ID: #######), recently initiated from your checking account was returned by your financial institution."
A link to a Microsoft Word document is also included. Do not open the attachment! If any of the contained links are selected you could expose your computer to malware or a virus that could compromise your personal information (including eBanking login information, credit card numbers, etc.) to hackers who could use it in an attempt to defraud you.
Please do not open this email, or any other that comes from an unknown source. If the email has been opened, delete it before opening the attachment.
